Partner, misdemeanors and record sealing

Misdemeanor and assault cases, and petitions to seal old records.

Kiona takes misdemeanor cases and assault charges, and she handles the firm’s record sealing petitions from the first review to the order.

Most of her clients are in the middle of a job search or a lease application. She works to a calendar built around those dates.

A sealing petition, start to finish

Kiona opens every sealing file the same way: she pulls the record and lists each entry with a yes, a no or a maybe. Clients get that list in writing before they decide to go ahead.

When a petition is filed, she tells the client the date of the hearing, what the judge is likely to ask, and what to wear. After the order, she sends a letter the client can hand to an employer.
